Records, People, Baseball

Barry Bonds just (officially) broke Henry Aaron's home run record.

Hurray for Henry Aaron.

Bonds cheated and stole the record from Aaron. I was hoping he would have a career ending injury before he did it.

I have a hard time with the sport, seeing as its integrity has been compromised..

Also, I really enjoy your blog, someone sent me the link :)

Bonds # of home runs will always have an asterisk next to the number in honor of Aaron, so there!

Working out early this morning I was engulfed by TV (sorry for the profanity) facing every treadmill, every elliptical, every rowing machine, et al. And, I forgot my iPod (is that profanity too if I'm listening through Isaiah?) so I was enslaved by the engulfing televisions. Barry Bonds' feat was eclipsing every news-worthy item (the miners trapped in Utah; the rise of violence in Afghanistan and the Afghan government response [sorry, but I have a dear friend who's a missionary there], Korean hostage crisis, etc.).

My how we (the media that is) quickly shifts from things of heavenly import for things of earthly, temporal, nominal insignificance.

Okay....I feel better now.

To paraphrase Pascal, our interest in trivia and our ignorance of eternal matters reveals a strange disorder in the human condition.
